INSPIRATION

FACE: According to Shobrook, " pale , dewy skin and hollowed cheekbones evocative of the Film Noir period were the foundations of the look."
-Before applying Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, Talia created the look of the hollowed faces by applying dark shades of Laura Mercuer tinter moisturizer compact across the cheekbones (NEW: Available Fall 2012)
-She then applied Laura Mercier Primer Radiance on the nose, chin and cheekbones to create an illuminated, dewy effect on the skin.
LIPS: Shobrook then "modernized the era's trademark blood red lips."
-She first outlined the lips using a mixture of Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colours in Cocoa and Merlot and filled them with Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush (NEW: Creme Smooth Lip Colours available Fall 2012). She then dabbed Laura Mercier Lip Plumper in Pink Pearl to the center of the lips to creative a seductive sheen.
EYES: "Melodramatic and mysterious eye makeup that harks back to the soft focus effect of Film Noir camera lenses completed the look."
-Talia created a seductive eye by sweeping Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Starfruit across the brow bone and Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Dusk across the lid, outer corner of the eye and under the lower lash line
-She then accented the center of the lid with Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Violet Sky
-Talia line the entire eye with Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper and blended it out with Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Colour in Tiger's Eye

"To channel Ervell’s vision of contrasts, the hairstylist Holli Smith played with juxtaposing textures and lots of different sprays: “There’s a frizzy, dry feel on top, with strokes of shine below, right around the edges.” After amplifying volume with Oribe Maximista Thickening Hair Spray, Smith spritzed Oribe Soft Lacquer Hair Spray to the top of the head, and went in with a curling iron. The newly-created waves were then dulled down with the help of Oribe Dry Texturizing Hair Spray..."

HOLLI SMITH FOR LODEN DAGER FALL WINTER 2012 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Holli Smith was head of hairstyling at Loden Dager's Fall/Winter 2012 show held at Good Units in the trendy Hudson Hotel. With the responsibility of styling a herd of 30 rambunctious male models for the runway, she relied Oribe Hair Care products. Playing with the texture and shine of the hair, she used Oribe's Superfine Strong Hairspray paired with their Dry Volumizing Spray to create what she called a, "pompadour silhouette" for the boys. She used her fingers to create a disheveled, brushed back effect for the top strands of hair and clean-cut edges towards the bottom. Holli could be heard telling her assistants "the more product the better!"

Daily Beauty Tip: Makeup Artist Eric Polito gave the star a neutral glow with a slight focus on the lips. The key to such a precisely balanced look? Clean and even skin— using Shiseido's multi energizing cream. Then I curled her lashes and moisturized her lips using Origins Lip Remedy...I then evened out her skin using Diorskin Nude in medium beige.Polito started by cleansing and moisturizing Byrne's face before applying a dewy beige foundation—and an understated blush...The final touch and emphasis was on the lip. I lined and then colored in her entire lip with Dior Contour lipliner in #863, Holiday Red and then to finish the look  filled in her lip with Diorific lip color #003 Magic Wine.
