ERIC POLITO FOR ROSE BRYNE | AMFAR GALA 2012 | INSTYLE FEATURE

Daily Beauty Tip: Makeup Artist Eric Polito gave the star a neutral glow with a slight focus on the lips. The key to such a precisely balanced look? Clean and even skin— using Shiseido's multi energizing cream. Then I curled her lashes and moisturized her lips using Origins Lip Remedy...I then evened out her skin using Diorskin Nude in medium beige.Polito started by cleansing and moisturizing Byrne's face before applying a dewy beige foundation—and an understated blush...The final touch and emphasis was on the lip. I lined and then colored in her entire lip with Dior Contour lipliner in #863, Holiday Red and then to finish the look  filled in her lip with Diorific lip color #003 Magic Wine.

    "YOU ARE A BABE"

    KRISTIN GALLEGOS | THE FORMULA

"I started off as a ballerina and that is what I thought I was going to do, but I got to a fork in the road and decided it wasn't for me anymore. Backstage, you end up having to do your own elaborate theatrical makeup, so I already had some sense of using makeup. Someone had suggested that I go into it professionally, which had never occurred to me. I researched it and took a little workshop in LA and then moved to New York to work in fashion. I brought a portfolio of test shoots I had done in LA and was so lucky that I immediately started getting booked, which I am very very thankful for, because that could have easily gone in a different direction [laughs]."

“I’ve been doing the same makeup on myself for a while now. I just do concealer where needed, (Laura Mercier, Secret Camouflage). I then use the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder on top of that, as needed, on my T-Zone. I put the Smolder MAC Eye Kohl in the waterline of my eyes top and bottom. Next I do a little more of the pencil underneath the eyes. Then I set it with a bit of Carbon black MAC eyeshadow to give it that messy smudgy effect. I keep the focus underneath my eyes because my bangs are super long. So you can’t really see the top of my lids. I finish off the eyes with mascara top and bottom with L’Oréal Voluminous.”

BEAUTYHIGH.COM FEATURES BEAUTY TIPS FROM MAKEUP ARTIST:

    KRISTIN GALLEGOS

"HOW CAN I KEEP MY EYELINER IN PLACE ALL DAY?"

    Dear Kristin,

What's the best kind of eyeliner to use when you want it to stay on all day?

    Xoxo,

    Melissa from NYC

You have come to the right girl about eyeliner!!! I never leave home without my black smudgy eye!  My personal favorite pencil is MAC's Eye Kohl. I use the black Eye Kohl called Smolder....Using the pencil in the waterline of the eye really makes the eyes pop and gives it a more dramatic effect. To ensure that it will stay all day I use an eyeshadow powder on the lash line to set it and blend it out...My favorite brush to use for this is Nars Small Dome Eye Brush. It's an amazing small blending brush....If you are looking for more of a graphic liner to work with, I absolutely love Make Up Forever's Aqua Cream Liner. It's waterproof and long-lasting. It's a great alternative to a liquid liner because it is much easier to use. It can be applied in a clean graphic way with a small angled brush..I would suggest getting MAC's #208 angle brush. You want to start applying the cream from the inner part of the eye with the pointy part of the brush pointing inward, and drag it out toward the outer part of the eye.  You want to start thinner and thicken out the line as you are dragging it out.
